WHY the Smiley? Lots of people ask us “What in the heck does a SMILEY FACE have to do with Credit Card Processing and why does everything TMC does, have a Smiley attached to it?”- we love the question and here is the simple answer. MOST business owners do not find JOY in working with their credit card processor- in fact, quite the opposite! So when we decided to take care of businesses and their processing needs, we knew we had to be different. The SMILEY FACE sends a certain message: We are glad to see you, hear you, work with you and to be of service. We CARE about you and we will do everything we can to put a smile on your face. Credit card processing is one of the products we provide but Taking Care of People and delivering a SMILE WORTHY experience is who we are and WHY we do what we do.

BOOK REVIEW: Sometimes You Win Sometimes You Learn

This is a review of the book Sometimes You Win Sometimes You Learn, by John C. Maxwell. I learned that even though we always strive for success (which is our desired end result) we actually learn more when we lose. It is better to take action and fail (as long as we learn something from the failure) than to do nothing. John is a great story teller sharing stories from his personal experiences along with the experiences of other well-known people who have overcome shortcomings and mistakes on their way to success. He lines out a roadmap to learn from our losses by breaking down the components of how we can learn when we miss the mark. Many people give up too soon when success is not achieved

The Art of Hospitality

There are few things that match the comfort of your own bed! So when travelling- there can be some trepidation surrounding your accommodations that is- unless you have friends that are truly gifted in the art of hospitality! Years ago, one of my very best friends and I found ourselves up in the wee hours discussing the little details that make staying with friends more entertaining. For example, do you ‘leave a light on’ like Tom Bodette? How about water in the room and should you leave a little tag or donation jar like many of the larger hotel chains do (think of the revenue!)? Treats in the room is really stepping up your game, but before you invest in that sensor filled refrigerator at your home- you

Social Media & Feedback In the Business World

Social Media has changed the face of customer feedback. For better or worse, we are living in a new age. The way we communicate with each other is so very important and it is safe to say that there are pros and cons for the high tech way we talk to each other today. Easier- YES, better- maybe. Better technology has helped in many areas: It has made it easier to provide the kind of feedback that can help businesses get better. It has made it easier to sing the praises of a great business. It has made it easier to make purchasing decisions. For all the positives, Social Media has also caused some challenges: It has made it easier to avoid confrontation. It has made it easier

NO Signature Required? WHAT?

In our ever changing digital world, things are always changing. So it is no surprise that the way our cards are being accepted is changing as well. We are dipping the chip and using our watches and now we may not even be asked to sign the receipt! As of April 1st, 2018 – the card associations have elected to move away from requiring your signature. We thought it would be helpful for you to know how each card brand feels about this turn of events: Here is a quick recap of the statements from the card networks: MasterCard announced in October (17) that Eliminating the need for signature is another step in the digital evolution of payments and payment security. At first glance, this might sound like

WATCH That Receipt! Partial Authorizations

U.S. merchants are prohibited from splitting credit card transactions, which they may be tempted to do when the total transaction amount exceeds the authorization limit stated in their processing agreements. In such scenarios, merchants would request multiple authorizations for portions of the total transaction amount, which would all be lower than the limit. We have advised you not to do that, because you will eventually be found out and pay the price for your misbehavior. Check Up from the Neck Up

Each month this year, our team will be focusing our Social Media posts and our growth process internally on a single theme. This month is: Check Up from the Neck Up I’ll never forget the first time I heard Zig Ziglar talk about getting a ‘Check Up from the Neck Up’. His southern drawl really drove home the point and I bought it. What Zig was talking about was how much control we really do have; by the way we feed and train ourselves to think. When trouble strikes, do you instantly see the glass as half full or half empty? If you take the time to look for the silver lining in every adversity you can train your brain to move in a more positive direction! We
